No foul play suspected in 51-year-old's death

PORT ALEXANDER -- The death of a man whose body washed up near docks on the southern
tip of Baranof Island on Friday afternoon does not appear to be suspicious, according
to Alaska State Troopers.
Richard Maciel, 51, died unexpectedly after reporting chest pains and being advised
to get a checkup at a local hospital, troopers said.
He took a skiff on his commute into town, and apparently fell into the water while
aboard, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at Mount Edgecumbe hospital in Sitka
after attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
No foul play is suspected, troopers said.
